Submit your letters here!
We reserve the right to not answer a letter if it does not adhere to the guidelines below. If an Ask is not in accordance with these guidelines, it will be deleted, so please, for your sake as well as ours, read them carefully. If a user sends repeated letters that outright do not adhere to these guidelines, the user may be blacklisted, at the discretion of the mods, from sending any letters. Thank you.
Here’s a quick list of games/characters we are NOT taking letters for, mostly because they are currently Japanese-only. However, keep in mind that these are all subject to change, and we will let you know if and when that happens!
- Tales of Rebirth
- Tales of Hearts
- Tales of Xillia
- Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 and 3 [the first game, however, is accepted]
- Characters from Japanese-only ports of games [or ports that a fan translation does not exist for], including Tales of Innocence R and Tales of Vesperia PS3 [Patty appeared on the blog as an April Fool’s day gag, but otherwise we do not take letters for her]
Regarding Innocence, Tempest, and Destiny 2 [the Japanese Destiny 2, not the North American Destiny II, AKA Eternia]: They are the exceptions to the no Japanese-only games rule, due to there being completed fan translations for Innocence and Tempest, and a mod knowledgeable about Destiny 2.
Regarding Xillia: While the game is currently being translated and adapted for North American release, we are not accepting letters at this time due to it, well, not being out here yet at the time of writing. We’ll let you know of any changes.
Special note about Tales of Legendia: We will take letters for Legendia. However, please note that because the skit system used full bodies instead of face-centered icons, we are unable to use pictures for any characters from it that didn’t appear in any Radiant Mythology games. We’ll still answer questions, just don’t expect pictures from those characters.
This is an Ask blog, NOT a roleplay blog. Questions must be asked in letter format. Nothing like “lol *kisses Kratos coz hes so smexy*” or anything of the sort. Depending on who spots one of those, it’s liable to be deleted on sight. If someone DOES answer it, don’t expect the characters to reciprocate your feelings. If you’re still confused, check out the Ask Ace Attorney blog and look at the submissions there to see what we’re getting at.
Tying into the above, we are adhering to canon. By this we mean that we’re not going to make the characters do things they wouldn’t do. [In other words, Tear loves Luke, and Luke probably loves Tear. Luke doesn’t love Asch and doesn’t plan on boinking him any time soon. Sorry, but you’ll have to go elsewhere for that. Nothing against those that like it, but them’s the rules.]
Please try to make your letter as clear and well-written as possible. We understand that grammar isn’t everyone’s forte, nor is every Tumblr user a native English speaker, but just make sure it’s legible. If we can’t make heads or tails of your letter, it will be deleted.
We have the right to not answer a letter if it makes the staff uncomfortable. We know the Tales series kinda makes some PG jokes here and there, but they’re T-rated, not M-rated. Refrain from anything too suggestive, please. They will be deleted.
Again tying into the above, we reserve the right to not answer letters that are overly vitriolic and vile towards characters. We know not everyone can like the same character, but if you don’t like them, then don’t write a letter to them. We will not pander to hatedom.
Yet again in regards to the above, don’t send us porn or borderline NSFW images. Seriously. That’s step one in a one-step process of getting yourself blacklisted for a good long while.
Don’t flood us with letters. We can only work so fast to answer your letters. Wait until we’ve answered a couple of yours first, then send more. Currently we’re running on a queue that publishes one letter a day (we plan to increase frequency once we have a larger buffer), so it’s probably going to take a while for you to see yours.
